has a world-class symphony orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra .
Amsterdam is the business capital of the Netherlands and is still one of the
most important cities in Europe, to do business, many Dutch corporations and
banks have their headquarters in Amsterdam. History of Amsterdam, Amsterdam
was founded in the late 12th century as a small fishing village on the banks
of the Amstel, it is now the largest city in the country. The 17th century
is considered Amsterdam's "Golden Age", ships sailed from Amsterdam to the
Baltic Sea, North America, Africa, Indonesia and Brazil, this formed the basis
of a worldwide trading network, Amsterdam became one of the
wealthiest cities in the world.
