Alafia River State Park features a 20-mile network of off-road biking trails, 20 miles of equestrian trails with a 30-site equestrian/family camping area, and 20 miles of hiking trails. Scattered lakes and the south prong of the Alafia River provide opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Alafia River State Park is located 10 miles southeast of Tampa on County Road 39.

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park offer over 5 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horse riding, along with another 3 miles of designated bike trails. The Lake Overstreet trails continue to be popular with fitness enthusiasts. Ornamental gardens were first planted in 1923.
